Availability
Wireless Priority Service (WPS) is available in most
of Alltel’s service areas effective 16 May 2008. See coverage
map for current and future availability; check back to this
web site for updates as Alltel’s WPS coverage is expanded.
Please note that when roaming, WPS functionality will
be available on other CDMA WPS-enabled networks (i.e. Verizon Wireless
and Sprint PCS). WPS functionality is not available when roaming
on CDMA networks that are not WPS-enabled or in service areas not
covered by intercarrier roaming agreements.
Service Requests
WPS is requested for Alltel users through the on-line
GETS-WPS Information Delivery Service (G-WIDS). See the Program
Information section on how to obtain a Point of Contact (POC) User
ID and password to access G-WIDS. The following information will
be needed to complete the on-line WPS service request for Alltel
users:
- Each User’s 10 digit cellular telephone
number
- The appropriate Alltel account number. Accounts
may have one or more users. WPS charges will appear on this account.
Upon service activation, an email is sent to the POC
and user advising that WPS has been activated. Users should make
a WPS test call when they are notified of service activation. If
the user is unable to complete the test call they should call the
user assistance number, located on the back of the GETS card. That
number is 1-800-818-4387 or 1-703-818-4387.
